People Behind the Purses: Andrea

Our newest RSD purse style has officially debuted! Meet our newest backpack, Andrea — Rudy’s big sister. ;)

Backpacks are so popular right now, and Andrea is the perfect size to carry your 13-inch laptop or chromebook, light sweater, or notebooks. We love the Rudy style, but we’ve had some request for a little more size, so that’s where Andrea comes in.

As always, Andrea is named after someone near and dear to me — this time, Nick’s older sister.

Everyone who finds out I’m a Scott asks if I’m related to Andrea Scott. She is a wife, mom to two kiddos, band teacher, and super involved community member. I know she has a huge influence because it seems half her students become band teachers themselves!

Andrea is always on the go with teaching and her busy kids, and they are also dedicated Jacks fans. I’m sure being hands-free is a priority for her, so she is the perfect namesake for this new backpack design.

Keep on reading to hear from her directly!

1. How do you know Rebekah?

Rebekah is my sister-in-law. She married my brother Nicholas.

2. Give us a brief bio of yourself.

My husband Mike and I were high school sweethearts, attending Brandon Valley.  We both attended SDSU and have 2 children. Our daughter Lauren is a freshman at SDSU and our son Mason is an 8th grader. I teach 5th-6th grade instrumental music in Canton and I assist the high school band. My family loves attending SDSU sporting events and traveling together. Also, we have a little Peak-A-Poo puppy named Cooper.

3. How many RSD purses do you own?

Oh gosh… I would be guessing without going to locate my stash!  I am proud to own some of her very first original designs! It's amazing to see how her designs have changed and evolved through the years!

4. Do you have a favorite fabric?

Yes! Chalk Dust is my favorite! I have it in an Ivy and love that! I like the simple and solid fabrics.

5. Do you own/have you seen the Andrea purse yet? What do you like about it?

I've heard from Rebekah that “Andrea” will be her larger backpack! That sounds AWESOME!  Being a teacher in 2 different buildings, I have lots of things that I transport from one building to the next, including lots of music, laptop, papers, and instruments!

I'm also interested in this new style of backpack as I've had back surgery and I need something that can sit correctly on my back, rather than just shoulder bags.

6. We're curious about a few of your favorites.

My favorite movie has to be Pretty Women or Dirty Dancing. My favorite ice cream is SDSU's creation: Cookies and Cream!

7. Do you have a quote or motto you live by?

"They may forget what you said, or what you did, but they will not forget how you made them feel." Maya Angelou

8. Do you have a must-have item in your purse, and why?

I don't personally, I'm pretty low-key. But I always like to think of my grandma when I hear this question - she always has lipstick in her purse. We were on a vacation together and when we stopped at a rest area, she HAD to apply lipstick before we went in. "You always need to look your best,” she said, with a beautiful smile!
